DISTRIKT RYE - CASK STRENGTH
Cask # 3, Batch # 1 Single Cask, Vacuum Distilled Whiskey
Story : New make distilled in the city of Bayswater WA from a blend of finished quality craft Red Ale, double red & tiny parts of fresh Motueka pilsner. The double distilled new make spirit was then vacuum distilled with cracked, malted rye berries from selected parts of the new make distillate to further clean the spirit and accentuate the grain in the recipe. Distillates separated and blended at casking. Unconventionally distilled & matured in a new, Char 4 Hungarian Oak 112 litre cask for a period of 27 months before cask decanted and bottled at cask strength of 58.20%
Eyes : Bright red with mahogany & golden hues
Nose : Fuji apple, Cinnamon, Orange Oils & Dried fruits. Rye berries, cereal grain, gingerbread schnapps. English toffee & sweet almonds.
Finish : Balanced smoky and blistering oak tactiles balance with spicy grain & savoury fine grain tannins, lignin & a touch of sweet whiskey lactone make this expression moreish and distinctive for a rye whiskey.
With the use of a pipette or 'pure' ice the long 'range' of the whiskey can be explored & appreciated at much lower abv's revealing profiles of butterscotch & oily peanut butter all the way down to a pure yellow gold colour, whilst the rye is prominent from start to finish. A journey through grain forward whiskey, from cask strength to below 35% abv.
Cask strength recommended for the collector & whiskey enthusiast
